Research
Research work undertaken by the National Centre of Folklore and Popular Culture includes the following:
• collecting, documenting, preserving and disseminating material examples of popular expressions of the different cultural groups in Brazil;
• setting up documentation systems to help recover information; planning and holding exhibitions to reinforce the formation,
• preservation and diffusion of ethnographic collections;
• formulating, executing, accompanying and encouraging research studies to produce and disseminate knowledge and give direct support for cultural production in major centres;
• performing field studies of the different expressions of Brazilian culture;
• encouraging exchange of know-how with public and private institutions, guiding, issuing an opinion and running projects and programmes; and coordinating the shop.
