Collection
When forming its collection of almost 13.000 items, Edison Carneiro Folklore Museum understood the objects of popular culture as forms of expression that, in their substance, have meanings permanently attributed by those who produce, use or enjoy them.
Art and handicraft, everyday and ritual utensils, instruments and tools, adornments and costumes, toys, etc., associated with their contexts of origin, are cultural assets that are part of the whole national heritage and are presented to the public mostly through long, temporary or travelling exhibitions organised by the museum.
Some of the artists mentioned are great masters, such as, for example, Vitalino, Geraldo Teles de Oliveira (GTO), Nhô Caboclo (Manoel Fontoura), Nino (João Cosmo Félix), Louco (Boaventura da Silva Filho), Antonio Poteiro, Waldomiro de Deus, and so many others.
